Inheritance of photo-sensitivity in pigeonpea

چکیده
Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.] is a short-day legume species and the late maturing genotypes are more photosensitive than early types. To generate information about inheritance of photo-sensitivity, this study was conducted under natural artificially extended (16 h) photo-periods using F1, F2 BC1F1 generations. Under photo-period, F1 hybrids showed partial dominance earliness; while in , normal distribution that skewed towards earliness observed. In contrast spread data wide with discontinuities recorded at day 70, 82 103. Chisquare tests, when applied to data, suggested three dominant genes (PS3 PS2 PS1 ) controlled expression photo-sensitivity. These were found operating hierarchical order failing express presence PS3 gene. Similarly absence gene, expressed but it masked . Further, gene only both recessive homozygous state. Hence, proposed genetic model for photosensitivity pigeonpea > photoinsensitive genotype being triple (ps3ps3ps2 ps2ps1ps1 ).

Inheritance of Pigeonpea Sterility Mosaic Disease Resistance in Pigeonpea
A comprehensive study was conducted using PPSMV resistant (BSMR 736) and susceptible (ICP 8863) genotypes to develop a segregating population and understand the inheritance of PPSMV resistance. The observed segregation was comparable to 13 (susceptible): 3 (resistant). Hence, the inheritance was controlled by two genes, SV1 and SV2, with inhibitory gene interaction.
متن کاملDevelopment of cytoplasmic-nuclear male sterility, its inheritance, and potential use in hybrid pigeonpea breeding.
Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.] is a unique food legume because of its partial (20-30%) outcrossing nature, which provides an opportunity to breed commercial hybrids. To achieve this, it is essential to have a stable male-sterility system. This paper reports the selection of a cytoplasmic-nuclear male-sterility (CMS) system derived from an interspecific cross between a wild relative of p...

Non-Mendelian inheritance was revealed for the "heat-sensitivity" character of the poikilothermic insect Drosophila melanogaster. Genetic analyses were performed on heat-sensitive (S, S(1)) strains, derived through indirect selection, and on stocks constructed through extensive chromosomal and cytoplasmic substitutions between strains obtained from two replicate cage populations. The population...

in the case of the singlet P states of the atom. That this sub-hydrogenic character appears in the molecule for a D instead of for a P term as in the atom, may prove instructive in determining the cause of this hitherto unexplained type of deviation from the Balmer formula. The various electron levels and transitions now known for the He2 molecule are shown in the form of an energy-level diagra...
متن کاملProspects of Pigeonpea Hybrids in Indian Agriculture
Stagnant production, soaring prices, and enhanced imports of pigeonpea (red gram) have been matter of concern to the prime stakeholders in India. A new hybrid pigeonpea breeding technology, developed jointly by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) is capable of substantially increasing the productivity o...
